Stuttgart, September 22, 2014

Matica Technologies AG, a leading international ID and card issuance solutions provider, announces a new group appointment:
Systems Sales Manager, North America – Mr. Richard Righi

Senior Sales Executive Appointed as Matica’s New Systems Sales Manager, North America

Matica Technologies Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Righi as our Systems Sales Manager in North America, effective 22nd September, 2014. In this role, Mr. Righi will focus primarily on sales of Matica’s “systems” products in the U.S.A. and Canada. Mr. Righi will report to the Regional Director of Matica’s North American operations, Ed Cochran, and be part of the Matica USA-based team with offices in South Carolina and Florida.

Mr. Righi has over 25 years of work experience in the ID and card issuance industries, including more than 20 years of work history at Datacard Corporation and more than 5 years with Gemalto. He has considerable experience in both direct and indirect sales, having served in senior account manager and regional channel manager roles, and he is very familiar with both ID card printers and related items for desktop card production, smart cards, and NFC, as well as large card personalization machines for central card issuance.

Mr. Righi has been instrumental in developing card issuance and / or card management programs for major firms like AT&T, Boeing, Blue Cross, Carnival Cruise Line, Disney, First USA Bank, Jet Blue, Microsoft, Royal Bank of Canada and Target. His successes include sales to one of the top three credit unions in the U.S.A.; a cashless e-purse and access control solution for Disney World Resorts and cruise ships; a major hospital chain with deployment of printers and cards for over a hundred hospitals; and a program to issue approximately 20 million insurance cards.

Sandro Camilleri, CEO of Matica Technologies says: “Richard has a solid sales foundation and understanding of the markets which we serve. Due to his past sales experience in our industry, I expect him to rapidly learn and understand our broad product portfolio, and help us execute our plan for high growth and profitability in the region in spite of the highly competitive nature of the North American market.”

“We are especially excited to have his experience and input as we further develop our plans for the growing financial card instant issuance market in the USA. This market segment was already growing for us, but the current priority in the USA on issuing EMV-compliant cards is increasing the pace for new system implementations. However, we know that in addition to our current products and new ones we will publicly introduce later this year, we need a strong combination of software, sales and service channel partners. I believe Richard has the experience to bring this all together for us and allow us to have a major impact on the market.”
